There is something special about creating together or enjoying something creative together. Even when something is made in solitude; its significance morphs into something different when it is shared with another human being.
Think of a young child who shares his scribbles with his or her parent(s). Or when you feel the need to make a comment when looking at a piece of Art in an Art Gallery. Social media has become a means of sharing one’s creativity with the world (at least that is what the the Meta empire wants you to think).
At the end of my Online Sessions, or the end of a 5 week in person session, I always make it a point to celebrate and share the Art works of the children. The pride of the children and their parents, beaming over their completed project is priceless.
The completed Art work is a process – an idea and a blank piece of paper. A completed piece comes about as result of a human being considering options, making choices, investing time and developing skills as a result of it.
A precious process that no photograph is able to capture. Just memories and feelings that I as an Artist Educator have the privilege of witnessing time and time again.
What a privilege!
